Surge Wave Compact Reverb Unit #002

*****International buyers, please contact me for a custom shipping quote

This Surge Wave is build inside a vintage repurposed thing of unknown original function. It reminded me of the tracking device unit that Anton Shigur uses in No Country for Old Men...still not sure.
It needed a little reinforcement and extension to accommodate a spring tank, as it had had a kinda rough life. But I was able to use part of the original controls and the original meter and antenna.

When turned on via the true bypass toggle switch, the amp jewel indicator illuminates and the meter needle goes over about 3/4 of the dial. The meter does not bounce with the guitar signal on this unit, but serves as a stationary power indicator.

What's inside: an original drive and recovery circuit that can run on anything from 9-18 volts. I recommend 9 or 12 volts for the Surge Wave. It doesn't really get any additional  benefit from 18 volts. It uses a Mod® brand mini metal spring tank. his one has been slightly modified to fit this enclosure. If it ever gives out, just contact me for a replacement modified to spec.

What it sounds like: with the mix about 1 o'clock, it sounds like a traditional subtle spring reverb you could just leave on all the time. As your crank the mix, it goes from subtle to obnoxious really quickly. It can do subtle, out front, and obnoxious with very little inbetween. (if you're looking for a more nuanced version and size is not as much of a concern, contact us about a Long Wave Reverb Unit, which uses a 9" or 17" spring tank and has a much wider range of sounds).  Until I get a legit demo made, check instagram for a couple of sound samples from a previous Surge Wave unit.

Controls: the top 3 controls are labeled: Volume, Depth, Tone. The front knob is unlabeled and is the Wet/Dry Mix.
Depth determines how much of the wet signal is available to the Mix. The 4 controls are all interactive. I suggest turning the Tone way down as you turn up the Depth and Mix. Use volume to compensate as you turn the mix up as well.

Labels are all acid-etched and powder coated aluminum plates.
